All pediatric dental specialists should
strive to treat children in a low stress, safe, and
responsible manner. Here at the Greensboro Center for
Pediatric Dentistry there are several aspects of our
practice that we think are unique in helping us achieve
these goals.
|
1) Looney Lanny
-
Lanny is our very own magician, clown and comedian. He
entertains children and adults in our waiting room several
times a month with magic tricks, jokes, and balloons. We
think this helps relax children before their appointment and
also helps pass the time while family members are waiting. |

|
2) Lots of Fun
Distractions -
We have seven plasma screen TV’s
located throughout our clinic. These show child friendly
movies that are easy to see while children are having their
teeth cleaned. We also have Nintendo GameBoy DS’s available
at every chair as well as train sets, a coloring table and a
doll house for kids to enjoy while they are waiting for the
dentist. |
|
| |
|
| 3) No Cavity Club - We think that children who take care of
their teeth should be rewarded. After a “cavity free”
checkup our patient’s get to enter a monthly raffle. The
winner will receive either an ipod nano, a digital camera,
or a years membership to the North Carolina Zoo!

|
| 4) Parent
Consults - Our philosophy is that our staff should focus entirely on the patient during treatment. Therefore, we encourage children as they become older to experience their dental visits without their parents in the clinic. This allows our doctors and staff to build a relationship with the children and establish trust. However, we want to speak with each parent whenever they visit us. Every parent will have the opportunity to speak with a dental assistant prior to each appointment and with a doctor after each appointment.

|
| 5)
Individualized Care - Our doctors do not believe
in the “one size fits all” model of oral health care. We
feel that each child is different. Thus, our
recommendations may be different for each patient, even if
they are the same age.
|
|
| |
|
| 6) Community Education/Service - Our office spends a
great deal of time in our community providing dental health
education and service. We are available to speak at schools,
churches, community groups, etc... Give us a call to set up
a time for us to visit your child’s school!
|
|
| |
|
| 7) Wireless
Internet Connectivity - We’ve all had the experience of waiting longer than we expected at a doctor’s office. While we strive to stay on schedule there are occasional emergencies and set-backs that put us behind schedule. To help make your waiting time more productive and entertaining, our waiting room is equipped to provide wireless internet service.

8) Facebook

Free Infant
Exams and Oral Health Education -
We feel that
the key to cavity prevention is early oral health education
for parents. Many dental problems start because parents fall
into bad habits (like putting their child to sleep with milk)
without even realizing it. All parents with an infant
between eight and fourteen months of age are entitled to
participate in our Baby Oral Health Program (BOHP) at no
charge. |

10) This
Website –
We have spent a great deal of time
designing a website that is both fun and informative. We
encourage our patients and parents to explore our website
and view our educational videos and slideshow! |

11)
Digital x-rays
- New computer software has made it possible to get a
clearer, better, x-ray image while using significantly less
radiation. Our office has upgraded to this new
technology and we are excited to offer this improved service
to our patients.
